Sally Yardley

Biography

Sally Yardley has been designing and creating art for as long as she can remember.  Raised in the Leaside area of Toronto, her love of art led her first to enrol in high school art courses, then to pursue a design education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.  A 20-year career in residential design and architectural drafting followed.

Seeking a more personal mode of creative expression than her design work could provide, Sally embarked on a course of study through art courses and workshops in the Peterborough area in 2004.   This culminated in an intensive 14-week session at the Haliburton School of the Arts in 2005.

The grounding factor throughout Sally’s life has been her connection to nature through her lifelong love affair with the flora, fauna and vistas of the Kawartha Lakes in Ontario.  Extensive travels throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, the Bahamas and Europe have provided additional inspiration for her meditative landscapes and abstract paintings.  A delightful new wave of drawings and pastel paintings is the result of a re-awakened interest in portrayal of the human figure.
